What are SES URLS?

Search Engine Safe URLS (SES) refers to the practice of creating URLs that are easily read can be an important factor in determining search engine position and the overall professionalism of a website. This is accomplished by removing variables in dynamic url strings and replacing delimiters with '/'.

SES URLs Rank Better on Google

This is FALSE!

It has been pointed out that Google will index just about anything - including obscure looking URLs with cryptic parameters on them. Although this is true, we shall see that it does not exempt the developer from paying attention to the URL when he or she is thinking about search engine optimization.

Just because links with parameters are accepted and indexed does not mean you should ignore how they are constructed. The factor of importance is what is read in your URL string, in that it adds semantic significance to search engines.

If, like a lot of ecommerce sites, the a URL string were "ProductID=049302" this WILL NOT have as much meaning as "PRODUCT=George-Forman-Grill". Now which do you think Google would deem a more favorable indicator?
